Building upon my background of a BS in Microbiology and an MS in Statistics, I am a PhD student in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Washington. With Peter Gilbert at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, for my dissertation research I explore new ways to define and develop potential surrogates in clincial trials of vaccines, incorporating new methodologies such as targeted maximum likelihood estimation and machine learning techinques. More generally, my research interests include the application of statistics to genetics and infectious diseases.

Outside of school I enjoy volunteering at a local elementary school and spending time with my family--hiking, reading, cooking, playing piano, and exploring the many fun activities Seattle has to offer.
